I love Tuesdays. Once, when I was a teenager, some friends and I went out and bought a giant cookie-cake and had them write on it “Happy Tuesday”, just for the heck of it. We did it on a Wednesday. It was a hit. I might have to make that a tradition, except now I’d probably bake the cookie-cake myself.
This has nothing to do with cookies or cake, however. Tuesday is my CSA pick-up day.
Sweet Potatoes
Potatoes
Lettuce
Kale
Carrots
Garlic
Sweet Peppers
Root veggies make me happy. I don’t have to use them right away, and when I do they’ll be delicious. The gold potatoes are a little on the small side, but they’re perfect for roasting whole or throwing into a grill bag. I’m also thinking I’ll have to do a pizza soon with the sweet potatoes.
I think a salad is finally in order. In spring, I ate so much salad that I got absolutely sick of lettuce + toppings. I think I can finally appreciate a simple salad again. Carrots will go nicely on it.
These peppers are going to be stuffed. For sure. I haven’t had stuffed peppers in almost a year.
When a certain thing is coming in strong from the garden, CSA, market, &c., I eat so much of it in a few weeks that I don’t even want to look at it for a while (think tomatoes). What do you get sick and tired of eating on a regular basis?
Holy crap, this batch is made for me. These are a few of my favorites, and would make a nice soup too.
I’m actually kind of burnt out on beets right now because we roasted a bunch of them and then made borscht on top of that. haha
